What we collect
When you submit a booking request, contact form or realtor enquiry we collect the information you provide: name, phone number, email address, property address, property details and any notes you add. If you call us we keep a record of the enquiry. We also collect standard technical information through our analytics, which may include your approximate location, device type, browser and the pages you viewed.
Why we collect it
To arrange, perform and deliver your inspection, to send you your report, to answer your questions, and to keep records required for our professional insurance and business obligations. We collect nothing that is not needed for those purposes.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information. We do not rent or trade mailing lists. We do not share your details with contractors, remediation companies, mortgage brokers, insurers or anyone else who might want to sell you something. We do not accept referral fees for passing your information along, because we do not pass it along.
Who we share it with
Only where necessary to deliver the service: our report delivery platform, our email provider, and our web hosting and analytics providers. Where a laboratory analysis is part of your service (radon, water, mould), the sample is submitted to an accredited laboratory. We may disclose information where required by law.
How long we keep it
Inspection records and reports are retained for the period required by our professional liability insurance and applicable limitation periods in Ontario — generally a minimum of seven years. Enquiries that do not become bookings are retained for up to two years and then deleted.
Your rights
Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to retain it. Email book@doctorhomeinspector.com and we will respond within thirty days.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses minimal first-party storage for functionality — for example remembering which boxes you have ticked on our checklist tools, which is stored only in your own browser and never transmitted to us. If analytics are enabled, they are used solely to understand which pages are useful and how visitors find us.
